Post Partum

Postpartum General Assessment

Whether you’ve had a vaginal or belly birth, it can be beneficial to have an assessment of your healing tissues, abdominal wall, pelvic floor, and bladder function.

Diastasis Recti (DR)

DR is a stretching of the linea alba, connective tissue in the abdominal wall. This is a normal part of pregnancy, to allow room for the fetus to grow. It is important to load this tissue to help regain it’s integrity. When treating DR, our goal is to help patients feel confident exercising, not fear it.

Return to Running or Impact Exercise

Returning to activity is very important to many after delivery. We assess and offer guidance based on the best available evidence.

Bowel and Bladder

Leaking, urgency, and increased frequency of voids are common after birth. However, this is not normal, and no one should have to settle for this being their “new normal” after giving birth. Pelvic floor physiotherapists can assess and treat these issues.
